In the month of March, Manatee Heritage
Days celebrate the rich history in this area. All month long, historical sites
and organizations celebrate the region’s heritage through a variety of
interpretive means. Tampa
Bay Newswire has a comprehensive list of events, but we've singled out some
highlights:
- Anna Maria Island Heritage Day
takes place at the Anna Maria Island Museum on Historic Pine Avenue on March 1st
from 10am-4pm. You can witness settler crafts in action, including
wool-spinning, bee-keeping and canning, and meet several local historical
authors who will be on-hand signing books.
- The Island Branch Library in
Holmes Beach will host a program on the Ca’d’Zan, the beloved historic home of
John Ringling. Learn all about the historical and artistic heart of our area on
Thursday, March 6th
- ArtSlam will return to Old Main Street and various partner cultural sites from 10am-9pm on March 8th. Hundreds of artists, musicians, performers, and other creative types who engage the audience and invite children to participate as they create multi-media art throughout the day and night. Check out the Realize Bradenton website for more details on this high-octane event.
We hope our what’s on pieces have helped
fill up for your diaries for the next couple of weeks. Please let us know what
you think if you attend any of the events we mention or if you think we've
missed something that deserves a shout out!
